Audient Horizon 32 – 50-in/50-out Thunderbolt hub

Horizon 32 is built for the hybrid room where the outboard rack never gets unplugged. Eight Tascam-pinout DB25 connectors carry 32 channels in and 32 out of 32-bit conversion, so consoles, summing boxes and boutique preamps all stay patched while you mix in the box. Audient's flagship interface, available at Soundium.

Key Features

  • 64 channels of elite conversion: 32 in and 32 out of analogue I/O across eight industry-standard DB25 connectors.
  • 133 dB dynamic range: ESS ES9823PRO and ES9039 converters running 32-bit / 192 kHz.
  • 0.99 ms round-trip latency: Thunderbolt 3 at a 64-sample buffer, so native plugins track in real time.
  • Dedicated mix-bus path: A separate stereo print path keeps all 32 D-Sub channels wired to your outboard.
  • Scales to 200 × 200: Daisy-chain up to four Horizon units under one macOS driver.
  • Dual ADAT and BNC word clock: 16 more digital channels plus sync with switchable internal termination.

Customer Benefits

Large hybrid setups usually lose time to repatching: one summing box in, one pair of converters out, and a print path stolen from the main I/O. Horizon 32 removes that. Every D-Sub bank stays permanently connected, the stereo monitor outputs run independently of the mix bus, and Horizon Control lets you route any input to any output without touching a cable. Reference levels switch between +18 dBu and +24 dBu so the converters match the headroom your analogue chain already runs at.

Quick Specs

  • Total I/O: 50 in / 50 out
  • Analogue I/O: 32 in / 32 out via 8 × DB25 (Tascam pinout)
  • Conversion: 32-bit / 192 kHz, 133 dB dynamic range
  • Digital I/O: Dual ADAT in/out, BNC word clock in/out
  • Host connection: Thunderbolt 3, forward compatible with Thunderbolt 4 and 5
  • Round-trip latency: 0.99 ms at 192 kHz / 64 samples
  • Reference levels: +18 dBu / +24 dBu, switchable
  • Dimensions and weight: 48.3 × 33 × 4.45 cm, 4.4 kg, 1U all-metal chassis

Ideal For

  • Mix rooms running a console or summing box alongside a DAW
  • Facilities that need 200 × 200 I/O without changing driver
  • Mastering and critical listening where converter transparency decides the take

Compatibility

macOS only, over Thunderbolt 3 and forward compatible with Thunderbolt 4 and 5; registering in Audient ARC unlocks the bundled plugin and software offers.

Pros & Cons

  • ✅ 32 × 32 analogue I/O without a separate converter chassis
  • ✅ Sub-millisecond latency makes native plugin monitoring practical
  • ✅ Fanless 1U chassis, quiet enough for the control room
  • ✅ Dedicated mix-bus inputs free up the main I/O
  • ⚠️ macOS only — there is no Windows driver for the Horizon range
  • ⚠️ No mic preamps on board; pair it with Horizon 8P or your existing pres
  • ⚠️ Eight DB25 looms are a real cabling cost on top of the interface

If your room is already half analogue and the bottleneck is I/O count rather than sound, Horizon 32 is the piece that makes the rest of the rack usable at once. Find the Audient Horizon 32 at Soundium.
