Most mic arms solve one problem and create another. They get the microphone close to your mouth, then hang a big metal frame across the top of the shot. RØDE's new LPA1 comes at it from below: a low, flat arm that stays under a camera's typical line of sight, so the mic is where it should be and the arm isn't in the picture.
It's RØDE's first low-profile studio arm and, at 2 kg, its highest-capacity one. We have it from today in black at €149, shipping from our supplier's stock in 3 to 4 working days.
What the LPA1 does differently
- It stays low. The arm runs along the desk rather than over it, so on a front-facing camera you see the mic and the host, not a boom.
- 750 mm of reach. Plenty to bring a mic across a wide desk, with 90° of tilt up and 60° down. It can also drop below desk level.
- 2 kg payload. Heavy broadcast dynamics like the PodMic, Procaster and Broadcaster, or a large-diaphragm condenser like the NT1, are all within range. So are small cameras and lights.
- Quiet to move. Adjustments are smooth and silent, so nudging the mic mid-take doesn't end up in the recording.
- Tidy cables. XLR or USB runs along the arm and clicks into four included clips.
- Fits almost anything. A ball-head mount plus 1/4", 3/8" and 5/8" threads covers mics, cameras and lights.

LPA1 or PSA1+?
If your recordings are audio-only, the RØDE PSA1+ (€139) is still the classic overhead broadcast arm, with longer reach and a spring system that floats the mic above the desk. If a camera is pointed at you, the LPA1 is the one to get: it keeps the mic just as close while keeping the arm out of the shot, and it carries more weight. The original PSA1 (€119) remains the budget option for audio-first setups.
Who it's for
Get it if you host a video podcast, stream, or record talking-head content and your current arm is in the shot. It's also a good fit for heavy dynamic mics that make lighter arms droop.
Look elsewhere if you only record audio and like the mic floating high above the desk, or if your desk is thicker than 70 mm (the clamp's limit). The white version is coming later; for now it's black only.

Final Thoughts
The LPA1 is a small idea done properly: move the arm out of the way of the camera without moving the mic away from the voice. For anyone filming their podcast or stream, that's the upgrade that shows up in every frame.
Still Unsure?
